Affiliate disclosure

Last updated: February 15, 2026

Our commitment to transparency

PERFRIG.COM participates in affiliate programs with retailers and manufacturers. When you purchase products through links on our site, we may earn commissions. This disclosure explains how affiliate relationships work, how we maintain editorial independence, and what it means for you.

The short version: We earn commissions on some purchases made through our links. This doesn’t affect your price, and we only recommend products we genuinely believe in based on testing and research. Our opinions are our own—no affiliate partnership influences our reviews or ratings.

How affiliate programs work

What are affiliate links?

Affiliate links are special URLs that track purchases. When you click an affiliate link and buy something, the retailer knows the sale came from our site and pays us a small commission.

Example:
Normal link: amazon.com/product-page
Affiliate link: amazon.com/product-page?tag=perfrig-20

The “tag” identifies PERFRIG as the referrer. Your shopping experience is identical—same price, same product, same checkout.

Commission rates

Commission rates vary by retailer and product category, typically ranging from 1% to 10% of the purchase price. Rates change frequently and are set by retailers, not by us.

We do not receive higher commissions for recommending specific products within a category. For example, our GPU recommendations earn the same commission rate regardless of which model we recommend.

What you pay

You pay nothing extra. Prices are identical whether you use our affiliate links or navigate directly to the retailer. Commissions come from the retailer’s marketing budget, not from your wallet.

Example:
GPU costs $149 on Amazon. You pay $149 whether you:

  • Click our affiliate link → We earn ~2-4% commission
  • Navigate to Amazon directly → We earn nothing

The product, price, shipping, and return policy are identical.

Editorial independence

Our review process

Affiliate relationships do NOT influence:

Product ratings:

A GPU that earns us commission receives the same critical evaluation as one that doesn’t. We’ve given “SKIP” verdicts to high-commission products and “BUY” recommendations to low-commission items.

Content selection:

We choose what to review and write about based on:

  • Reader interest and requests
  • Product significance in the market
  • Our testing capabilities
  • Editorial judgment

NOT based on:

  • Commission rates
  • Manufacturer requests
  • Affiliate program incentives

Honest opinions:

Our verdicts reflect real testing results and value analysis. We publish negative reviews even when products have lucrative affiliate programs. We recommend budget alternatives even when they earn lower commissions.

Testing before recommending

For hardware reviews:

  • We purchase products with our own funds when possible
  • We conduct independent testing across multiple benchmarks
  • We compare products to competitors
  • We base recommendations on real-world performance and value

We do not:

  • Review products solely because they’re available through affiliates
  • Accept payment from manufacturers for positive coverage
  • Allow affiliate partnerships to influence test methodologies
  • Promote products we haven’t tested or researched

When we don’t link

We sometimes recommend products without affiliate links when:

  • The product is sold exclusively through retailers we’re not affiliated with
  • The manufacturer sells direct without an affiliate program
  • Editorial integrity requires avoiding any appearance of conflict

Absence of an affiliate link doesn’t indicate inferior products—it simply means we can’t earn commissions on those sales.

Disclosure practices

Article-level disclosure

Articles containing affiliate links include clear disclosures:

  • At the beginning of buying guides and product roundups
  • Before affiliate link sections in reviews
  • In context where readers might click affiliate links

Typical disclosure:
“PERFRIG may earn commissions from purchases made through links in this article. This supports our independent testing and doesn’t affect your price. See our Affiliate Disclosure for details.”

Link identification

When technically feasible, we identify affiliate links through:

  • Disclaimer text near links
  • Contextual disclosure in articles
  • This dedicated Disclosure page linked in site footer

We aim for transparency without cluttering content with repetitive disclosures.

FTC compliance

We comply with Federal Trade Commission (FTC) guidelines on endorsements and affiliate disclosures:

16 CFR Part 255: We clearly and conspicuously disclose material connections (affiliate relationships) that might affect the weight readers give to our endorsements.

Disclosure standards:

  • Clear: Disclosures use plain language
  • Conspicuous: Placed where readers will notice them
  • Unavoidable: Readers encounter disclosures before clicking affiliate links
  • Honest: Accurately describes our affiliate relationships

Why this matters

FTC disclosure requirements exist to protect consumers. They ensure you know when content creators have financial incentives related to products they recommend.

We take these obligations seriously and exceed minimum requirements when possible.

What we don’t do

No pay-for-play reviews

Manufacturers cannot pay for positive coverage. We do not:

  • Accept money for reviews or ratings
  • Guarantee positive coverage in exchange for affiliate partnerships
  • Allow manufacturers to influence review conclusions
  • Publish sponsored reviews disguised as independent content

No ranking manipulation

We don’t rank products based on commissions. Our “Best [Product] 2026” lists reflect:

  • Testing results and performance data
  • Value for money
  • Real-world use cases
  • User needs and budgets

NOT commission rates.

No misleading claims

We don’t:

  • Exaggerate product benefits to drive sales
  • Make claims not supported by testing
  • Use affiliate links deceptively
  • Hide material information to encourage clicks

Our goal is informed purchasing decisions, not maximizing commissions.

How affiliate revenue supports PERFRIG

Affiliate commissions help us:

🖥️

Purchase hardware

Buy GPUs, CPUs, and components for independent testing

🔧

Maintain testing infrastructure

Build and maintain multiple test systems

💰

Cover operating costs

Pay for hosting, tools, and services

✍️

Compensate contributors

Support writers, testers, and site operations

🛡️

Stay independent

Avoid relying on manufacturer funding or sponsored content

This revenue model allows us to:

  • Test more products
  • Publish more comprehensive content
  • Remain editorially independent
  • Provide free content to readers

Without affiliate revenue, we’d need alternative funding (subscriptions, sponsored content, manufacturer partnerships) that could compromise independence.

Your choices

Support PERFRIG

Using our affiliate links supports our work without costing you anything. If you find our content helpful, clicking our links when you shop helps us continue independent testing and honest reviews.

Shop direct

You’re always free to navigate directly to retailers. We understand some readers prefer not to use affiliate links. Our content remains free and accessible regardless of how you shop.

Ad blockers

Some ad blockers strip affiliate tags from links. We respect your choice to use these tools, though it prevents us from earning commissions on your purchases.

Questions and concerns

Conflicts of interest

We work hard to avoid conflicts between serving readers and earning revenue. When potential conflicts arise, we:

  • Disclose them clearly
  • Prioritize reader interests
  • Maintain editorial independence
  • Seek additional perspectives or testing

If you believe affiliate relationships have influenced our content inappropriately, contact us at: [email protected]

Accuracy of information

While we strive for accuracy, prices, availability, and product specifications change frequently. Always verify critical information directly with retailers before purchasing.

We update content regularly but cannot guarantee real-time accuracy on prices or availability. We are not responsible for pricing errors, stock changes, or retailer policy changes.

Product availability may vary by region and retailer.
