Our approach to reviews

PERFRIG maintains editorial independence in all product reviews. This policy explains our review process, submission guidelines, and what manufacturers and readers can expect.

Editorial independence

What guides our reviews

  • Honest testing: Reviews reflect genuine testing results and opinions, regardless of who provided the product or any commercial relationships.
  • No pay-for-play: Manufacturers cannot pay for reviews, ratings, or coverage. Review decisions are made purely editorially.
  • Editorial control: We maintain full control over review content, conclusions, and publication timing. Manufacturers don’t preview reviews before publication.
  • Factual accuracy: We correct verified errors promptly. Honest opinions and critical assessments remain unchanged.

For manufacturers and PR firms

Review submissions

Email: [email protected]

Include in your submission:

  • Product name and specifications
  • Target launch date and pricing
  • Regional availability
  • Press materials (images, spec sheets)
  • Why our audience would find this relevant
  • Sample terms (loan or keep)

What we review

Hardware categories:

GPUs and CPUs
Cooling solutions
Cases and power supplies
Motherboards and RAM
Storage drives
Gaming peripherals
Monitors
Pre-built systems

We prioritize products that:

  • Are relevant to PC gaming
  • Are available (or soon available) for purchase
  • Represent genuine value propositions
  • Fit our current testing capabilities

Response timeline

After submission:

  • We evaluate editorial fit within 3-5 business days
  • If interested, we’ll confirm and provide shipping details
  • If we don’t respond within one week, we’ve declined

Review publication:

  • Varies by product complexity (typically 2-4 weeks after receipt)
  • Quality and accuracy take priority over speed
  • We don’t commit to specific publication dates

High submission volume means we can’t respond to every request individually.

What to expect

We provide:

  • Professional communication
  • Thorough testing using consistent methodology
  • Fair comparison to competing products
  • Transparent disclosure of sample source

We don’t guarantee:

  • Review coverage (receiving product ≠ guaranteed review)
  • Positive ratings (products are evaluated honestly)
  • Specific publication dates
  • Preview or editorial approval

Sample arrangements

Loaned samples:

  • Typical testing period: 2-4 weeks
  • Product returned after testing
  • We cover return shipping

Products to keep:

  • Preferred arrangement when possible
  • Allows long-term testing and driver updates
  • Enables future comparative testing

Our preference: We prefer purchasing products or receiving them as non-returnable review samples to maintain complete independence. We test all products identically regardless of source.

Our testing process

Testing standards

Every review includes:

  • Clean Windows installation with current drivers
  • Consistent test bench for fair comparisons
  • Multiple games at multiple resolutions (typically 15+ for GPUs)
  • Frame time analysis alongside average FPS
  • Thermal and acoustic measurements when relevant
  • Power consumption testing
  • Build quality assessment
  • Value analysis vs. competition
  • Testing methods are applied consistently across comparable products

Testing duration:
Typically 1-4 weeks depending on product complexity. Extended testing for driver maturity updates when warranted.

Review content

Our reviews include:

  • Comprehensive performance benchmarks
  • Real-world gaming scenarios
  • Comparative analysis
  • Value-for-money assessment
  • Clear verdict: BUY / CONSIDER / SKIP
  • Numerical rating (0-10 scale)
  • Honest pros and cons

Rating philosophy:
We use the full 0-10 scale. Average products receive average scores. Not everything rates 8-10.

Transparency and disclosure

Sample source disclosure

Every review clearly states:

  • Whether we purchased the product
  • Whether manufacturer provided a sample
  • Whether sample was loaned or returned

Example disclosures:

“GPU purchased by PERFRIG for testing.”

“Sample provided by [Manufacturer]. PERFRIG maintains full editorial control.”

After publication

We update reviews when:

  • Major driver updates significantly affect performance
  • Pricing changes impact value analysis
  • Readers report verified factual errors

Updates are transparent:
Noted at article top with update date and explanation.

Manufacturer feedback:
We welcome factual corrections with supporting evidence. We don’t change ratings or opinions based on manufacturer requests.

For readers

Review integrity

Q: Do manufacturer samples influence reviews?
A: No. Products test identically regardless of source. We’ve published critical reviews of samples and positive reviews of purchased products.

Q: Why accept samples instead of buying everything?
A: Budget constraints. Samples enable testing more products while maintaining editorial independence.

Q: Can I trust your reviews?
A: Yes. Editorial and commercial operations are completely separate. Advertising and affiliate partnerships do not influence review outcomes or ratings. Ad partners receive no preferential treatment.

Our commitment

Reviews exist to help readers make informed and confident hardware decisions. We test honestly, report accurately, and recommend based on value—not sample sources or commercial relationships.
